At Auto Repair Specialists we can handle all of your vehicle's maintenance needs and repair problems. We work on Cars and Light Trucks, American and Foreign, New and Old. We specialize in diagnosing those hard to find problems. We have been in business since 1997, and are a family owned business. We try to treat our customers like we would want to be treated, giving them the best service for the best price available.
Owners
Dave Timm has 30 years experience in automotive and agricultural mechanics. He is a graduate of Forreston High School, Whiteside Area Vocational Center, and Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, WY. Dave has worked at various repair shops since high school, and spent seven years at the Freeport Park District overseeing the mechanical maintenance department. In 1997 a dream was fulfilled with the opening of Auto Repair Specialists. Many changes have come in the last years, but the emphasis has remained on customer service and getting your vehicle repaired quickly and properly.
Gina Timm has many years of experience working as an office manager, formerly for a local attorney and for the last years exclusively at Auto Repair Specialists.
Technicians
Owner Dave Timm and Service Manager Tim Welch have a combined 80+ years experience in the automotive field, and Technicians: Gary Lamm, Corey Ifert, Chad Schubert, Cassidy Tempel and Carl Sundquist have a combined 75+ years experience which enables them to repair all aspects of today's modern vehicles.
Gary Lamm
Gary has many years of experience in automotive, truck and agricultural mechanics. He is a graduate of Freeport High School, Stephenson Area Career Center, and Highland Community College. He owned and operated his own repair facility for a length of time. Gary is excellent in troubleshooting and repairing engines, transmissions and differentials. He is ASE Certified and continues to train with classes and seminars.
Corey Ifert
Corey has many years of experience in the automotive field. He is a graduate of Dakota High School, SAVETS Automotive Training, and Highland Community College. Corey is excellent in troubleshooting, brakes, suspension, and vehicle electrical systems. He is ASE Certified and also continues to train and update himself with classes.
Chad Schubert
Chad Schubert joined us in January of 2011 and works part time for us and also is a full time Freeport firefighter. He is a graduate of Highland Community College’s Automotive Technology program. He has worked previously at area automotive shops, and has many years of experience. He is ASE Certified and continues to train with classes and seminars.
Cassidy Tempel
Cassidy started at Auto Repair Specialists in Nov. 2018. Cassidy already had many years experience before coming here, working at various other repair shops in the area. He is a graduate of Highland Community College with a degree in Automotive Technology and Applied Science. He is MASTER ASE Certified and continues to train with classes and seminars.
Carl Sundquist
Carl started at Auto Repair Specialists in Nov. 2020. Carl already had many years experience before coming here, working at various other repair shops in the area. He is a graduate of Highland Community College with a degree in Automotive Technology and Applied Science. He continues to train with classes and seminars.
Tim Welch - Service Writer
Tim started at Auto Repair Specialists in June of 2018. While he is relatively new here, he has worked at various other shops, first as a technician and then as a service writer. He has 41 years experience in the automotive field. This gives him a great advantage when talking to you about your vehicle since he himself has worked on them for years. He will be assisting Dave in making appointments, ordering parts, and calling customers. You will find Tim is friendly and very easy to work with. We welcome him to the staff of Auto Repair Specialists.
Continuing Education
Dave and his entire team of technicians continually attend classes to stay abreast of all the latest technology needed to repair your vehicle. The technicians also stay updated with the lastest ASE cetification tests to make sure they are accredited. The latest technology classes attended were:

Office Staff
Gina Timm works part time in the office and is part owner in the business. She has many years of experience in running an office and bookkeeping.
Jennifer Gruhn is our front desk manager and joined us in June, 2016. Jennifer is usually the one answering the phone and greeting the customers as they come in. She also prepares the customer's invoices, checks them out, and handles all their payments.
